Yttrium-90 therapy is a targeted liver treatment that delivers radiation to tumors through the blood vessels feeding them.
This treatment is usually considered when there is a liver tumour causing pain, growth on follow-up scans, or a cancer that needs targeted treatment inside the liver.
Imaging helps map the liver blood vessels, plan where treatment should go, and check how the liver and tumour respond after therapy.
Interventional radiology performs the treatment and uses imaging before, during, and after therapy to plan and assess it.
It is used in selected liver cancers and is coordinated with oncology, liver specialists, and follow-up imaging.
This entry explains the procedure. Before you go, read the longer prep guide or find a centre that performs it.
