Doppler ultrasound is a type of ultrasound that helps show the movement of blood through veins and arteries.
Doctors often request Doppler ultrasound for one-sided leg swelling, calf pain, reduced pulses, cold limbs, testicular pain, pelvic pain, or concerns about blood flow to an organ or fetus.
It helps when the question is about blood flow, a blood clot, artery narrowing, a blocked vessel, or whether an organ is receiving enough circulation.
It is commonly used for suspected clots, artery narrowing, swollen legs, testicular torsion concerns, and blood flow problems in organs.
The treatment depends on the result and may include blood thinners, vascular care, monitoring, or surgery in selected cases.
