Retinoblastoma is a childhood eye cancer that develops in the retina.
The most important symptom is a white glow or white reflection in a child’s eye, especially in photos. Other symptoms can include squint, poor vision, swelling around the eye, or an eye that looks different from the other one.
Imaging helps show the size of the tumour, whether the optic nerve is involved, and whether disease has spread beyond the eye.
Ultrasound and MRI help assess the eye, optic nerve involvement, and spread while limiting unnecessary radiation exposure.
Management is highly specialized and may include chemotherapy, focal eye treatments, surgery, and oncology follow-up.
This entry explains the condition. The next step is having a radiologist interpret your specific scan, not a general definition.
